Genny's family took us to a famous Beijing restuarant to eat the royal style food. Up until 10 years ago, only the elite were allowed to eat this type of food - or even to enter a restaurant like this.
We had a bunch of random things (mine were all veggie or tofu), but the oddest on the table was definitely the fish that was still alive. The middle of the fish was cooked, but the head was still alive for the course of the meal. Genny's aunt was grossed out - and she lives here.
I also had a bit of Biejo - this white liquor that tastes horrible. One of the men at the table kept cheering me, so I felt obliged to continue for at least a little bit.
