This was my first trip to China and we got to meet some relatives I'd never met before. We met my grandmother's sister-in-law, Hu Shu Fan, her son, daughter and granddaughter. My grandparents grew up in Beijing but left for Taiwan and then the States and never made it back to Beijing.
Before we went to dinner, we setup a video Skype call to my house. My grandparents and Hu Shu Fan got to see each other again after almost 60 years! No wonder Hu Shu Fan asked me, "Who's that?" while pointing at my grandmother. For her son, daughter and grandaughter it was their first time seeing my grandparents and my dad. It made my grandma so happy to have a "reunion". And it was so easy to do thanks to Skype and Fil's internet. It's the next best thing to flying 20+hours to see each other.
