Everyday there are bloody faces on the cover of the paper. I'm surprised at the gore they publish and it makes me cringe and want to cry. The articles about the Israeli/Hezb fighting are generally the same each day. Although some days they are about protests against Israel and the U.S. and how much they hate them both. Other days they wonder why the Arab nations cannot unite and help Lebanon. Today they are all for stopping Hezb, Iran, and Syria and moving towards a "new Middle East". Mostly though they want a ceasefire...permanently. These are the English paper stories...I wish I could read the Arabic ones.
After the first few pages though I find some entertaining blurbs:
- An Asian man was arrested for being drunk in a semi-naked state in public.
- A Bedouin man is being investigated for getting a Kuwaiti woman pregnant- 12 Asian men were arrested for playing cards and gambling in a park
- A Bangladeshi man was arrested for selling porn CD's to teenagers
- 47% of the population in Kuwait are Asian, only 31% are Kuwaiti
- 94% of Kuwaitis are "employed" by the government (this was from theLonely Planet)
- All Kuwaitis were given 200 KD last week just because and there are still articles complaining that the salary increase for gov't employees has not been approved
- Wanted: Dedicated and hardworking Indian female with 3 years secretarial experience
- 2 furnished rooms available for Bachelors from Goa
They also publish the prayer times for the day along with the weather. I'm not sure why they bother with the weather. It's the same every single day...46-47 C...hot and sunny.
