I've received the following article three times from three different people, so if I didn't post about it, I'd be lazy. Or rather - lazier.
There's an excellent article in the NY Times about Qatar and how it is changing from "the most boring place on Earth" to the next place to be.
The author makes a few mistakes in the article which show that he hasn't spent too much time here. He spells the Qatari currency as Rial - the official spelling is Riyal. Rials are only used in Iran, Oman and Yemen. Also, his fares for taxis are wrong. Karwa (blue taxis) start at 3 QR and go up by 1 each km. Orange and white taxis start at 2 QR and go up by 1 QR every 2 km. So, the Karwa taxis are almost twice as expensive - but still cheap. Though, these are all petty details in the end.
The article overall is pretty decent and gives a good spin on life in Doha. Make sure to check out the Qatar slideshow on the left sidebar for some solid photography.
