I've decided to sell my car on eBay. I had a little luck with potential patrons wandering past the car, craigslist, and through friends - but I couldn't sell it. But my car has a niche subset of people that would be interested in it. Hence, I turn to eBay.
I put my car on the block last week and it's been kinda fun watching the bids come in. If anyone does it in the future, it definitely best to have no reserve. You can probably artificially create a reserve if you want, but it's probably not the most ethical thing in the world.
I end up checking the bid every day and it has been goign up by about $1000 a day. It's currently at $7000 - which is the same as the highest offer I've had on my car from any individual, but still less than KBB. I figure it'll go up a tiny bit more in the last few hours.
Either way, it's been a good process so far. We'll see how it proceeds once the person comes to get the car and the money is transferred.
That is the largest material thing that has been causing me problems selling, so it's definitely nice to watch it get purchased. But on the other hand, this car has really been my baby for the last 7 years. Every scratch caused me agony.
Everyone from Amy to Richie has seen me explode when there's an "incident" with the car.
I can honestly say that this car runs like a champ. I wish I hadn't painted the interior blue - it definitely cuts the market of the potential buyer buy a millionth. Adding a exhuast is one that I wouldn't take back though. I love driving the car with a bit of a grumble and a bit more power.
My next car (after Doha) will again be modified. It's too much fun, but I'm going to be a little smarter this time 'round.
