We've received snow the last 24 hours in Seattle... and I've now realized that Seattle is woefully underprepared for such a scenario.
I woke up yesterday and today to find that Microsoft had cancelled their Connector routes. Local bus routes were also disrupted to where we live.
I did have an important meeting to attend, and Ellie had a doctor's appointment. So we decided to try the bus system as the King County web page said that services were running with some detours and our area was ok. So we walked to the nearest bus stop - and there really weren't bus tire tracks there, so we decided to keep walking to the top of the hill. Nope, nothing there either.
But on the way, we did see sliding cars. And jack-knifed trucks. And spinning SUVs (4x4s).
We saw a Subaru plow into a roundabout and destroy the front right axle. I ended up pushing the car into a pseudo-parking spot. The highways are shut down, but yet people try and avoid the orange cones and hop on - only to find themselves stuck in a ditch.
It's amazing how people drive when there is snow. I guess Seattle people don't know better, but you would think it would bring out caution rather than recklessness.
